And so it begins

The title says it all. "And so it begins." Not only is this the beginning of a new blog, but it's also the beginning of documenting my journey through cooking and baking. I don't anticipate anyone actually reading this blog, but it's more a way for me to express my love of creating and playing with my food as an adult.

Having recently seen "Julie & Julia," my eyes have been opened to the power of blogging. I missed the whole xanga era (probably a good thing, in retrospect), but that's no reason for me not to try my hand at recording my experiences and trials as I cook and bake my way through many of the "Good Eats" episodes.

My inspiration really does stem from Alton Brown, the true creator of the catchphrase "golden, brown, and delicious." When have these three words ever let me down? As someone who loves science and wants to know how and why cooking works, "Good Eats" has been an outlet that most of my friends and family accept, but still consider bizarre. Whenever I want to relax and take time for myself, I end up invariably turning on the Food Network, or opening youtube to see the archived episodes.

So now, I start my journey to cook and bake, documenting each step of the way as I try out new recipes and post the ones that I find to be fantastic. This won't be a lonely endeavor, because as anyone who cooks knows, food is a way to bring people together, and there's nothing better than cooking with family and friends.
